| The Board of DC/NOVA recently voted to bring the Unit's
pay structure in line with pay schedules for other assigning
units. For many years DC/NOVA game fee was 50% for the referee and
25% for each AR. The new fee structure pays the referee 40% and
each AR 30%. Previously the pay structure was based on a strict
percentage and rarely resulted in an even dollar amount for each
game. With the restructuring, all game fees are rounded to the
next higher dollar. This is designed to make the pay more
understandable and easier to track.
Also new in 2007 are the increase in the one-time per year insurance deduction and the percentage deducted from each game fee to cover the Unit's expenses. For the past eight years the Unit deducted $4.00 from each referee one time per year to cover the insurance premiums the Unit carries for the referees. As insurance premiums increased over the years the Unit covered the increase. This year the Unit has reached a point where it needs to increase the insurance deduction to $8.00 per referee per year. The game fee percentage deduction has been raised 1.5% from 11% to 12.5%. |
